University Research Committee

The University Research Committee (URC), a sub-committee of Academic Board, is an interactive forum for discussing, developing, implementing and disseminating policy and issues related to research and research training across the University. The membership of the URC is:

  • Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research) (Convener)
  • Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Operations) and Dean, Graduate Studies
  • Director, Research Branch
  • Managing Director, ARI Pty Ltd
  • The Executive Dean and the Associate Dean (Research) of the:
  • Faculty of Engineering, Computer & Mathematical Sciences
  • Faculty of Health Science
  • Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences
  • Faculty of the Professions
  • Faculty of Sciences
  • Two members of the Professoriate, appointed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research)
  • The University Librarian (or nominee)

In 2009, the two members of the Professoriate are Professor Julie Owens and Professor Peter Langridge.

The Research Education Development Committee (REDC) is a sub-committee of the University Research Committee (URC) responsible for overseeing all research higher degree policy development, including the legal responsibility for the award of the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy and Masters by research.
