The Centre has expertise in analysing the economic and social impact of gambling activities - particularly electronic gaming machines - having undertaken numerous studies for Federal and State government departments and agencies, and regional development organisations.
In order to facilitate research and promote public discussion of gambling issues, the Centre has compiled a Gambling Portal which provides access to gambling research and information. The information and tools should prove useful to researchers, policy makers, gambling industry stakeholders and the general public.
The portal is composed of the following elements:
- Gambling Database (gaming machines): an Excel database containing information on electronic gaming machine gambling in hotels and clubs in South Australia by region;
- Important Dates: a list of important dates in respect of gambling in South Australia;
- Gambling Publications: a list of reports and related materials produced by the Centre in relation to gambling, most of which are available for download; and
- Links: a list of useful gambling links.
The Centre has also established an Independent Gambling Research Consortium which brings together researchers from a range of disciplines that are experienced in undertaking research into the nature and impact of gambling.
