The Angas Engineering Scholarship was established by the Honourable John Howard Angas MLC in 1888. The scholarship was to be used to pay for fees and overseas travel associated with professional development for engineering scholars.
This Scholarship is open to students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia undertaking their final year of a Bachelor of Engineering program at the University of Adelaide as a Commonwealth supported student.
The funds are to be used to assist the student with education costs for one year. Education costs may include: travel and associated costs to attend conferences; registration fee for membership organisations; attendance at a short course or workshop; textbooks relevant to further study and any other educational opportunity relating to their approved program of study.
The Scholarship will provide $5,000 payable in two instalments of $2,500 directly to the student following confirmation of enrolment at the census dates (usually 31 March and 31 August) each year.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, eg details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
Successful recipients will be selected according to academic merit and financial need.
