BHP Billiton Scholarships

This Scholarship has been established by BHP Billiton Olympic Dam Corporation Pty Ltd (BHP Billiton), which is an organisation that owns and operates the Olympic Dam Mine.

This Scholarship is open to students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia and undertaking a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) program of study at the University of Adelaide. Students undertaking Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) double degree are eligible to apply, but the maximum period of the scholarship will be for 4 years. Students should be in their first year of study and undertaking study on a full time basis as a Commonwealth Supported student

Two Scholarships are available and will provide $10,000 per annum to each student to assist with education and living costs.

Students may not receive other major ongoing University of Adelaide Scholarships with this scholarship.

Successful recipients will be selected according to academic merit and following an assessment of those most likely to best meet the graduate profile for future Mining Engineers to be employed within the Mining Industry in Australia. Students may be required to attend an interview.

The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered; acceptance of the Scholarship offer cannot be deferred. If a student declines the Scholarship offer, the Scholarship will be offered to the next eligible student.
