Country Health SA is committed to providing a range of high quality health services in rural and remote South Australia to meet the needs of South Australians living in country areas. The Country Health SA Aboriginal Professional Employment Program is one strategy that aims to increase the number of appropriately tranined Aboriginal heath professionals in rural and remote South Australia.
It awards financial assistance of up to $5000 for up to five years of study to successful applicants in the disciplines of allied health (physiotherapy, podiatry, etc), medicine, nursing, dentistry, business management and Aboriginal affairs.
Scholarships will be offered to students either commencing or currently studying an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, and who resided in rural South Australia prior to undertaking their tertiary education.
Students are guaranteed employment with Country Health SA and required to live and work for a country health unit in rural South Australia upon successful completion of their study for a period equivalent to the scholarship funding.
