This scholarship has been established by the David Blight Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of the late Dr David Blight, one of the state’s pioneering minerals and resource figures. David graduated from the University of Adelaide and his career spanned the private and public sectors in South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The David Blight Memorial Fund will be used to help students who wish to pursue careers in geosciences and to sponsor research in exploration geology.
This scholarship is open to students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia providing support for one student per annum undertaking any of the following programs at the University of Adelaide:
Students must have successfully completed the first year of their Bachelor of Science program.
Preference will be given to students who have an interest in Geology, and intend to pursue a career in geosciences within the Mining Industry in Australia at the completion of their degree program.
The scholarship will provide an annual amount of $5,000 per annum for the duration of their undergraduate program, up to a maximum of three years, to assist with education and living costs.
Selection for this scholarship will be made on the basis of financial need and academic merit.
