Equal Access Scheme

In 2010 Adelaide University Union will offer Equal Access Grants to assist financially disadvantaged students commencing studies at the University of Adelaide. Union Board guidelines give priority to students starting their first tertiary program.

It is intended that the grants will help buy books, stationery and other basic resources or help with other essential costs approved by the scheme's administrators.

The principle consideration will be financial need. Applicants should bring appropriate documentation with them to their interview (e.g. Centrelink health-care card, proof of Centrelink income).

The grants are one-off payments and range from $200-$500, depending on a student’s circumstances, the number of applicants and availability of funds for the year. If you wish to apply for a Union grant under the Equal Access Scheme, you will need to:

  1. Download the appropriate form or collect a form from an Education & Welfare Officer (EWO), located on the ground floor of the Lady Symon building, Adelaide University Union or phone for a form to be sent out to you (8303 5430). Hardcopies also available at the Student Centre, Level 4, Wills Building.
  2. Lodge the completed application form with an EWO by March 2010. Please note, you must answer all questions, sign and date the application form. Completed applications must be lodged in person. A brief interview will be held at the time you lodge your application to determine your eligibility.

Applications close March 2010.
