Gilmore Law Scholarship
This Scholarship has been established by Miss Jean Gilmore, a gifted student who studied Law at the University of Adelaide obtaining distinguished results. After graduating in 1934, she practised law specialising in civil law until her retirement in 1987. Noted amongst Miss Gilmore's achievements are her service on the Adelaide University Council and participation in the Founding Board of St. Anne's College of which she was also Chairperson. Miss Gilmore was also the President of the Australian Federation of University Women Inc. With her long and outstanding career in law, Miss Gilmore has provided this scholarship to assist one student commencing a Bachelor of Laws program at the University of Adelaide in 2009.
The scholarship is open to students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia in their first year of the Bachelor of Laws program undertaking study on a full time basis (at least 75% of a full course load) as a Commonwealth Supported student.
The value of the scholarship is $2500 per annum payable for a maximum period of four years. Students undertaking double degrees are eligible to apply but the maximum duration of the scholarship remains four years.
Selection will be based on demonstrated financial need and academic merit according to TER scores (or according to academic records from tertiary or post secondary level study).
Students in receipt of other major University of Adelaide scholarships may not apply for this scholarship.
