The J.C. Stobie Mechanical Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship has been established Dr Peter Stobie in honour of his father James Cyril Stobie (1895 – 1953) B.E 1923, M.E 1932, A.S.A.S.M, A.M.I.E.E, in his position as head of the Design Department at the Adelaide Electric Company, later ETSA. Mr Stobie was responsible for the employment and encouragement of students and developing professional engineers. Before graduation, he designed the pole which carries his name.
This scholarship is open to students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia and undertaking a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) program of study at the University of Adelaide. Students must have successfully completed the first year of their Bachelor of Engineering program and be undertaking the second year of their program in 2010.
Students must be undertaking study on a full-time basis as a Commonwealth Supported student.
The scholarship will provide the sum of $5,000 per annum for the duration of the recipient’s undergraduate program, up to a maximum of three years, to assist with education and living costs.
Selection for this scholarship will be based upon academic merit.
