This scholarship has been established in memory of the late Carlo Antonio Mirelli to benefit a first year student who is commencing a Bachelors degree at the University of Adelaide.
This scholarship is open to students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia who are undertaking study on a full time basis as a Commonwealth Supported student.
Students must be of Italian origin. Priority will be given to South Australian applicants whose families migrated to Australia from the city of Zara in the region of Dalmatia (now forming part of Croatia) or from the regions known as Istria or Venezia Guiulia (now forming part of Croatia or Slovenia). Applicants will be required to demonstrate their family connection with these regions. The University reserves the right to seek advice from whatever sources it chooses to establish whether applicants have demonstrated a family connection with the city of Zara or the regions outlined above.
The scholarship will support one student for each year of their undergraduate program for the duration of the approved program up to a maximum of six years subject to the student maintaining satisfactory academic progress and demonstrating continuing financial need. The value of the scholarship is $10,000 per annum.
Selection of successful applicants will be made primarily according to demonstrated financial need and demonstrated family connection with the regions of Croatia/Slovenia/Italy specified above. Academic merit will also be considered. Academic merit will be determined according to ATAR scores.
