Order of Australia Association Foundation 2009 Scholarship in Medicine sponsored with the University of Adelaide

The Order of Australia Association Foundation is supporting the next generation of leaders by helping promising young Australians from all walks of life to achieve their potential. Each year the Foundation sponsors Scholarships for young Australian students in their early years of tertiary study. Two of these Scholarships are being sponsored at the University of Adelaide in Medicine.

Components of the Scholarship
The Scholarship has two complementary components where the awardees receive:
• an award of $40,000 for tuition fees, accommodation, living allowance and other expenses to further the awardee's education and
• the opportunity of an ongoing mentor relationship with a member of The Order of Australia Association who has professional experience in the awardee's chosen career.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the Scholarship in Medicine, the applicant must
• be an Australian citizen aged between 18 and 25 but, in exceptional circumstances, applicants may be considered up to 27 years of age,
• have completed the second year in Medicine (as their first degree) and demonstrated high academic achievement and are yet to enter their fourth year,
• be a full time student and expect to proceed to complete their program of full time study,
• have demonstrated qualities of leadership, initiative and being involved in community affairs and
• demonstrate their need for financial assistance to benefit the completion of their program of study.
