These scholarships have been established by Resthaven Incorporated, a public benevolent aged care community service of the Uniting Church in Australia offering a range of high quality, responsive community and residential care services for older South Australians.
Two scholarships are available to students in their second year, and one scholarship is available to a student in their third year of the Bachelor of Nursing program who are undertaking study on a full time basis as a Commonwealth Supported student at the University of Adelaide. Each scholarship is valued at $5000 per annum. The two scholarships for second year students are payable for two years, while the scholarship for a third year student is payable for one year.
Students must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
Selection of the successful candidates will be made according to academic merit and/or financial need. Selection will also be based on the applicant's written statement regarding their interest in aged care in their studies and as a career.
Academic merit will be determined according to students' cumulative Grade Point Average [GPA] for the preceding year/s.
Students in receipt of other major University of Adelaide scholarships may not apply for this scholarship.
Applications close on Friday 29 March 2013.
