Resthaven Undergraduate Scholarships for Nursing Students

These scholarships have been established by Resthaven Incorporated, a public benevolent aged care community service of the Uniting Church in Australia offering a range of high quality, responsive community and residential care services for older South Australians.

Three scholarships are available to students in their second year of the Bachelor of Nursing program who are undertaking study on a full time basis as a Commonwealth Supported student at the University of Adelaide. Each scholarship is valued at $5000 per annum payable for a maximum period of two years.

These scholarships are available to students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Students must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.

Selection of the successful candidates will be made according to academic merit and/or financial need.

One of the scholarships will be awarded to a student who demonstrates both academic merit and financial need.  Another scholarship will be awarded to a student in financial need, and the remaining scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit.  Selection will also be based on the applicant’s written statement regarding their interest in aged care in their studies and as a career.

Academic merit will be determined according to students’ cumulative Grade Point Average [GPA] for the preceding year.

Students in receipt of other major University of Adelaide scholarships may not apply for this scholarship.

Applications closed on Friday 11 May 2012.
