These scholarships have been established by Santos Limited and will provide two scholarships of $10,000 to two Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for one year.
The Santos Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarships are open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students who are enrolled full time in a Commonwealth supported place at the University of Adelaide. For the purposes of the scholarship, students undertaking 75% of a full course load are considered to be enrolled on a full time basis.
Applicants may be undertaking any year of study in any of the following undergraduate programs:
Applicants should preferably residents of South Australia. Priority will be given to applicants who are of Dieri, Yandruwandha or Yawarrawarrka descent as many Santos activities are on their traditional lands.
Selection of the successful candidates will be made according to academic merit and the applicants' statements regarding how the scholarship will assist them. For continuing students academic merit will be determined by their cumulative Grade Point Average [GPA] for the preceding year/s or results from the University's Aboriginal preparatory programs. For commencing students, academic merit will be determined by ATAR or equivalent scores.
The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered; acceptance of the Scholarship offer cannot be deferred. If a student declines the Scholarship offer, the Scholarship will be offered to the next eligible student.
