Terry Roberts Memorial Scholarship for Aboriginal South Australians
The late Terry Roberts was State Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation from 6 March 2002 until his passing on 18 February 2006. He was a passionate advocate for Aboriginal people and won the admiration and respect of South Australia's Aboriginal communities.
This scholarship is a memorial to Terry Roberts' great compassion, empathy and commitment for Aboriginal people.
The value of the scholarship is $2000 per annum for up to four years of full time study and is dependent on satisfactory academic progress.
Applicants must:
- be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and be accepted within their community as such
- be a South Australian citizen or permanent resident of South Australia
- be enrolled as a Commonwealth Supported full time student in their first year of an undergraduate program of study at a university in South Australia
- be eligible for ABSTUDY, Austudy, Youth Allowance etc
- be motivated to undertake and be committed to the program of studies
- not have previously completed an undergraduate course at any university
