Upcoming Events

We are pleased to present a number of opportunities for you and your students to get involved in at the University of Adelaide in 2013 including:

Foot in the Door - March 20-22
This event provides an opportunity for high achieving Year 12 students to experience the University and their specific area of interest in an interactive and exciting way. The program includes a student testimonial, introductory lecture, interactive activity and a study skills workshop.  Students are also invited to lunch attended by several of our academics and/or students from the relevant interest areas, giving them the opportunity to ask questions directly to individuals and get a great feel for the University. An optional campus tour is also available.

Registrations will be opening very soon on our website where there is also more information available.

For a full list of our events or where to find us, please visit our Events Calendar.

Headstart applications are open until Monday 11 Feb.  Open to high achieving or accelerated students, Headstart lets you complete a university subject while still at school, and even better, you can now count it towards your SACE.  Details and application forms can be found here.

International Office News

International Students aged under 18 years
The University will soon reintroduce provisions for international students aged 17 years to commence their degree studies, prior to their 18th birthdays.   The change of policy is in response to many requests from parents and schools to make places available to younger students.

The University will enter an arrangement with a trusted partner organisation in Adelaide to provide a guardianship service to our international students aged under 18 years.  The service is to be offered to international students who do not have a parent or eligible relative living in Adelaide.

The partner organisation already has provisions in place to manage guardianship responsibilities for their own students and will extend their services to University of Adelaide international students, including:

• Regular one to one contact with students via phone and face to face meetings.

• Determination of an appropriate homestay arrangement for each student and resolution of any issues concerning housing.

• Critical incident and emergency response processes.

Under our present policies, younger students must live with an “eligible relative” in Adelaide.  The new arrangements will provide families with more flexibility to enable their children to begin studies at the University of Adelaide without having to relocate a family member to Adelaide to live with the child. For more information please contact the International Office.
