These guidelines are intended to provide information for staff, students and contractors in the event of a Mecial Emergency.
The University has developed policies and guidelines to assist manage potential risks and minimise the impact.

PROCEDURES MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Call for assistance from others - delegate
Assess the situation, including your own safety, and check:
Danger - to you, to others and the caualty
Response - is casualty conscious. (Gentley shake and shout)
Airway - clear mouth and open airway - remove any foreign objects
Breathing - look, listen and feel for breath
Circulation - check for pulse
If person is mobile
- Summon the local first aid officer and/or call Security
If situation is life-threatening
- Ring "000" and advise exact location
- Summon the local first aid officer and/or call Security
- If trained, commence resuscitation/other medical treatment warranted until assistance arrives.
- Gain assistance. Send someone to the main entrance to assist/direct the Ambulance Service
Stay with the person until help arrives
Provide first aid assistance until skilled medical care is available.
