Membership

Members of the Incident Management Task Group are:-

  • Vice-President (Services & Resources)
  • Pro Vice Chancellor, Research Operations
  • Director, Human Resources
  • Director Infrastructure, Property & Technology
  • Director Marketing & Strategic Communications
  • Manager, Campus Services
  • General Manager, Student Services
  • Manager, Security
  • Manager HS&W
  • General Counsel
  • Operational personnel (whichever are available)

Roles and Responsibilities

Members of the Incident Management Task Group are responsible for:

  • Assuming control of the Emergency
  • Declaring the boundaries of an emergency zone
  • Co-ordination of additional University resources
  • Activating the Emergency Control Centre (ECC)
  • Providing ongoing liaison with the Incident Response Team and ECO networks
  • Briefing the Vice-Chancellor as required
  • Assessing the appropriate response i.e. shelter-in-place, lock-down, evacuation or relocation
  • Providing ongoing liaison with External Agencies including Government, the media, support agencies, representatives of overseas student groups
  • Establishing communications with the SAPOL/MFS Operations Media Unit(s) and preparation of incident briefs for media release
  • Ensuring all actions are noted on an Emergency Log
  • Facilitating briefs (as necessary) and the post incident debrief
  • Collating Emergency Logs prepared by the ECO’s, Incident Response Team and Incident Management Task
  • Group members and documenting an incident report which includes actions taken, issues identified and recommendations for improvement
  • Overseeing business recovery efforts, follow-up and review
  • Monitoring post-incident response including debriefing/counselling
