Presentation: Why Entrepreneurship is Important

Synopsis

Entrepreneurship is recognized as an important enabler of economic development.  It underpins wealth creation, employment creation, the diffusion of innovation, and the emergence of innovative business models that can lead to more efficient business practices.

Many people think of entrepreneurship in terms of individuals who set up their own businesses … and entrepreneurship encompasses this.  Entrepreneurship, however, is also relevant within larger organisations (both “for-profit” and “not-for-profit”) where employees function as corporate entrepreneurs in helping their employers engage in innovative and pioneering activities that will contribute to their bottom lines.

This presentation will discuss entrepreneurship from both individual and corporate perspectives.
