Bachelor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship(BIE)                                               

Program Outline

The Bachelor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship program is designed to develop and inspire individuals with an interest in starting or assisting innovative ventures that have the potential to make significant impacts on markets, economies and communities. Open to graduates with an advanced diploma (or equivalent) from almost any disciplinary background, the Bachelor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship program offers students the knowledge and skills to:

• assess and implement new ideas;
• create and manage new ventures;
• develop entrepreneurial management practices;
• create the supportive environments that foster and enable innovation
   and entrepreneurship;
• develop an understanding of the range of profit and not-for-profit    
   opportunities that are available to entrepreneurial people.

Admission Criteria

Students in this program must hold a Diploma or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised polytechnic institution or approved private institution.

Teaching staff for this programme will be dawn from existing staff in University of Adelaide's Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation, and Innovation Centre (ECIC), and its cohort of experienced sessional lecturers.

    Career Opportunities

    The Innovation and Entrepreneurship program is aimed at those who wish to be more effective in their role as a social, economic and technological change agent. It is designed for those who wish to directly undertake, support, finance or facilitate the creation and growth of new ventures that are based upon market ideas which significantly change the status quo. Graduates are expected to be involved in positively influencing and altering the market dynamics of the world we live in. Students will often be engaged or want to be engaged in:

    • the start-up and growth of new ventures
    • corporate innovation and entrepreneurship
    • the venture capital, banking or informal investment industry
    • government or other policy or regional development agencies or
       authorities
    • support services to new ventures and the SME sector
    • the not-for-profit and community social sectors

    30 hours

    Total number of contact hours for Bachelor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship 

    324 hours - 360 hours

    FrequencyEach course is taught over two intensive teaching block of 18 hours each.

    Intensive Teaching Block

    A typical intensive teaching block is as follows:
    Friday: 7.00 p.m. - 10.00 p.m.
    Saturday: 1.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m.
    Sunday: 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.

    Total duration for the each course:

    The total contact hours per course is 30 hours over ONLY 2 weekends with an interval of 3 to 4 weeks break between each weekend.

    • Course fees are charged on the basis of the number of courses taken in a given term and are due 2 weeks prior to the start of the term.
    • Course fees cover course notes and textbooks.
    • All fees quoted are in Singapore dollars. NAAEC reserves the right to change the course fee without prior notice.
