Graduate Diploma in Computer Science 

              

 

Program Outline

The Graduate Diploma in Computer Science is designed for students with little experience in Computer Science, and provides a fundamental understanding of how software and hardware can be combined to overcome a range of complex challenges. Graduates will have a demonstrated ability to design and construct large software systems. Employment may be sought within the information technology industry, including careers in scientific, entertainment, networking, software engineering and defence sectors.

Professional Accreditation

The Graduate Diploma in Computer Science is accredited at the Associate Level by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). It is designed to provide a professional qualification in computing and information technology. It also provides the necessary academic requirements for membership of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the American-based Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). 

Graduation and Degree

Postgraduates who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Computer Science will be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Computer Science degree by the University of Adelaide. The degree and transcript will be the same as that awarded to on-campus postgraduates.

Students may participate in the University of Adelaide's graduation ceremony on campus or at Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre.

  • A university degree from a recognized university in a discipline other than Computer Science.
  • Candidates are expected to have a background in mathematics equivalent to the standard of 'A' level mathematics.

FrequencyEach course is taught over 2 to 4 intensive teaching block in a term.

Intensive Teaching Block

A typical intensive teaching block is as follows:
Friday: 7.00 p.m. - 10.00 p.m.
Saturday: 1.00 p.m. - 7.00 p.m. or 8.00 p.m.

or

Friday: 7.00 p.m. - 10.00 p.m.
Saturday: 1.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m.
Sunday: 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.

A application fee of S$200* (subjected to prevailing GST)  is payable at the time of application.

  • For candidates from a non-English speaking background or those whose education was not in English. TOEFL (overall score of 575 or better) or IELTS results (overall band score of 6.5 or better) is required.

  • Applications cannot be considered unless all the relevant information is supplied.
