Let's CAN Hunger

SIFE has partnered with the Campbell Soup Company to launch Let's CAN Hunger™, a joint hunger relief initiative that addresses the issue of hunger and accentuates Campbell’s commitment to nourishing people’s lives. This program challenges SIFE teams to create projects that tackle the hunger problem with three goals: raising awareness about hunger relief, satisfying immediate hunger needs in local communities and implementing long-term solutions that help hunger victims address the cause behind their needs.

HUNGER: A GROWING EPIDEMIC
The World Health Organization estimates that over 800 million people around the world are food insecure. Bread for the World Institute reports that 16,000 children die each day from hunger-related causes. That is one child every five seconds.

Hunger is quickly becoming a global epidemic. Combating this trend will not be an easy task, which is why innovative solutions are needed to help raise awareness about the issue of hunger, as well as resource critical populations and educate those in poverty on how to break the cycle of hunger. These are the underlying principles of the Let’s CAN Hunger Challenge.
