Postgraduate Events

The ARC-APFRN is very keen to support postgraduates and ECRs by providing opportunities to learn more about professional aspects of academic life and promote links between students from all across Australia. 

This Signature Event provides an opportunity for postgraduates and ECRs to attend classes on researching issues like religion and culture in the Asia-Pacific, publishing, grant applications, presenting papers at conferences etc as well as getting to know future colleagues from around the country.

The Signature Event and You
The 2008 Signature Event provides you with opportunities to:

  • See and hear Australian and other academics of international renown and make yourself known to them
  • Learn about important aspects of academic life
  • Meet more people interested in the things you are
  • Improve your skills at academic presentation
  • Increase your chances of winning grants or having writings accepted for publication

Scholarship Opportunities

The conference organisers will provide 13 scholarships for post graduates. Preference will be given to those those travelling from outside of South Australia and presenting papers at the conference.
Early Career Researchers can apply for up to 10 scholarships to attend and present a paper. Preference will be given to applicants travelling from outside of South Australia.
 
A Scholarship will cover:

  • 5 day conference registration fee (waived) and will reimburse expenses up to the value of AUS $200 only, for one or more of the following:
  • Air travel to/from Adelaide (economy)
  • Visa for international students
  • Petrol costs for interstate travel to/from Adelaide
  • Accommodation in Adelaide for up to five nights (at the Royal Adelaide Hospital Residential Wing or equivalent – see  www.sapro.com.au/ARC-APFRN/accom.htm )
  • Adelaide Metro public transport tickets (www.adelaidemetro.com.au )
