Frequently Asked QuestionsHow many students will I be responsible for? The minimum number is usually 4 new students; the maximum is 10. The usual number per group is 6-8. Will my group members be doing the same degree program as myself? We try to match new students with mentors according to Faculty/School, then according to degree program. It is not always possible to match exactly. If we cannot match precisely with the mentor we try to ensure that new students have at least one other person in their group doing a similar degree program or some of the same courses. It is possible for mentors to have students from different Faculties in their group. You have to be prepared for anything!! How often do I need to contact my mentees? Mentors are required to meet individually with their group members at least once during the program. Mentors are expected to send weekly emails or smses, checking with each member how they are going, if they have any questions, and keeping them informed of relevant activities. Do senior mentors receive more tangible benefits than first time mentors? Senior mentors will receive the same cash prize if they fulfil their tasks. Their certificate and written reference will reflect their experienced status and additional responsibilities or skill levels. |
