Wine Innovation Cluster
Central Building

The Wine Innovation Cluster (WIC) is an alliance of five major research and development organisations in South Australia.

The WIC Central Building, located at the University's Waite Campus provides a national resource for grape and wine research and was officially opened by The Hon Rory McEwen, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries on 19 November 2008.

This $28M building project was jointly funded by the University of Adelaide, the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI), the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and the Department of Primary Industries and Resources South Australia.

It provides state-of-the-art facilities and capabilities for integrated grape and wine research across the production value chain – from vine to palate.

With almost 6,500 sqm of floor space over four levels, the completed building is an international focus for wine innovation, research and development and houses the University of Adelaide Discipline of Wine and Horticulture, AWRI and SARDI.
