Dr Anne Hamilton-Bruce is the Co-Director of the SRP and is a Principal Medical Scientist with supervisory research experience in neuroscience.  With a background in clinical neuroscience, she also has an interest in social research, having collaborated with allied health on evaluation of patients with stroke, by means of surveys, focus groups and in-depth interviews.   She also works with Prof. Koblar's molecular neurogenetics team on genetic and environmental risks factors in stroke.

Dr Jim Jannes is a Neurologist and Stroke Physician who is currently Head, Stroke Unit, TQEH.  His principle interest is cerebrovascular disease.  He has investigated the relevance of genetic predisposition to stroke and his other research interests include the acute management and secondary prevention of ischaemic stroke.

Dr Martin Lewis is Chief Scientist for the SRP.  His background in molecular biochemistry includes research into the regulation of the hypoxia inducible factor, HIF-1a, by the von-Hippel Lindau (VHL) protein.  He was the first to report the expression of Npas4 in the developing zebrafish embryo.  Npas4 is a close family member to HIF-1a, both belonging to the bHLH/PAS class of transcription factors and both inducible by hypoxia.  Npas4 is essential in the control of forebrain formation and GABAergic neurogenesis, so central to normal brain development.
