Personal Leave

Annual Leave

All full-time staff members are entitled to 20 working days annual leave each year. Leave accrues at the rate of one- and two-third working days for each completed month of service. Part-time staff members are entitled to annual leave on a pro-rata basis.

Leave Without Pay

Staff members may apply for a period of leave without pay. Leave without pay will normally not exceed two years. Superannuation contributions at full rates continue in cases of leave without pay for periods of one calendar month or less. For periods longer than one month, a staff member may elect, prior to the commencement of the period of leave, to pay both the staff member and employer superannuation contribution, or to pay no contributions.

Long Service Leave

All staff members on continuing service accumulate, and are entitled to, long service leave. Casual staff may be eligible for long service leave subject to conditions.

Sick Leave

All staff members, excluding casuals, are entitled to sick leave.

Professional Staff

Full-time professional staff members are entitled to 15 days accumulated sick leave per year of service. Part-time staff accrue accumulated sick leave on a pro-rata basis.

Academic Staff

Academic staff members do not have fixed entitlements of sick leave. For absences or potential absences of 20 consecutive working days or more, academic staff members must notify the Head of School either or by contacting their Manager. The academic staff member concerned must complete a leave application form and may be required to attach a medical certificate to the notification.

Moving House Leave

One working day may be granted annually for the purpose of moving from the primary residence.
