Managing Work-Life Balance

Achieving a more enriched life in terms of a person’s family commitments, physical health, social, community and cultural life is about having some measure of control over when, where, and how a person works. Access to flexible work options and leave entitlements are key methods by which employees can effectively manage their work-life balance.

Responsibilities of Staff and Managers

An employee’s ability to effectively manage their work-life balance in part depends on access to flexible work arrangements. The section on staff responsibilities outlines steps for staff wishing to modify their work arrangements to accommodate their work-life balance issues.

Managers also play a key role in developing and maintaining a work culture supportive of assisting staff to manage their work-life balance issues. The Manager Responsibilities section on is intended for Managers to facilitate staff access to flexible work arrangements.
