Carers’ Services

Aged and Community Services Australia Inc

Aged and Community Services Australia Inc is the national peak body in Australia representing over 1,200 church and charitable organisations providing accommodation and care services to older people, people with disabilities and their carers.

Alzheimer’s SA Inc

Alzheimer’s SA Inc provides services and support for people with Alzheimer’s, their families and carers.

Carer’s Association of SA

Carers SA is a non profit incorporated community based organisation that provides information and advocacy for people who have taken on a caring role.

Carer Support and Respite Care Inc

Carer Support and Respite Care Inc is a not for profit organisation that provides information, support and respite to all carers who reside in the south and east metropolitan regions of Adelaide.

Child Support Unit of the Legal Services Commission (Legal Aid)

The Child Support Unit provides legal services in child support and maintenance matters, particularly in regard to children with disabilities and special needs. This includes adult children with disabilities or special needs.

Department of Health and Aging

The Aging and Aged Care Division of the Department of Health and Aging provides support and assistance to family and friends of people who are unable to care for themselves due to chronic illness, disability or frailty.

National Respite for Carers

The Department of Health and Aging has in place a National Respite for Carers Program, which is designed to support and assist relatives and friends who provide care at home, for people who are unable to care for themselves because of chronic illness, disability or frailty.

SA Department for Family and Communities

The South Australian Department of Family and Communities provides a range of services and programmes, including support and assistance for carers.

The Child Care Access Hotline is a national government telephone service providing information on the types of childcare options available in your area, child care vacancies and information about government financial assistance with the cost of child care.

The Department of Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs is a commonwealth department that provides comprehensive fact sheets to assist families to access support and services about child care.

Disability SA (DFC)

Disability SA coordinates support services for South Australians with a disability, their families and/or carers.

Disability Information and Resource Centre Inc

DIRCSA is a non-profit organisation that provides information on all aspects of disability.

Information on the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA) website for people with disabilities, their families and carers.

Financial Assistance

Australian Taxation Office

The Australian taxation office provides a range of information on taxation including online calculators to assist individuals to manage their tax affairs.

Child Support Agency

The Child Support Agency administers the Child Support Scheme and assists separated parents to take responsibility for the financial support of their children.

Family Assistance Office

The Family Assistance Office website has been set up by the federal government to provide information about and access to a range of payments or entitlements to support families with their work and family responsibilities. Some of these include Family Tax Benefits, Child Care benefits, Child Care Tax Rebate, Maternity Payments (‘baby bonus’), Maternity Immunization Allowances and Large Family Supplements.

Financial Information for Over 50s

seniors.gov.au provides a single point of access to government and non government information and services for Australian who are over 50 years of age including information on superannuation, pensions and allowances, financial planning, Australian government support services and other relevant links.

Commonwealth Care Link Centres

Commonwealth Carelink Centres provide free and confidential information on community aged care, disability and other support services available locally and interstate. You can find your nearest Commonwealth Carelink Centre by using the online search facility or by telephoning a national telephone number Freecall 1800 052 222.

Community Information Strategies Australia Inc

Community Information Strategies Australia is the peak community information organisation in Australia which provides databases for South Australian health and community services in the areas of health, welfare, housing education, legal services and recreation.
