packaging provides flexibility by maximising take-home pay through restructuring
your salary. The University also rewards staff with up to a generous 17% contribution
towards superannuation.

Development Opportunities

The University provides staff with a comprehensive induction and professional
development program. Lifelong learning is supported by the University's Special
Studies Program (SSP) through which eligible staff can access financial assistance
to undertake a period of study in lieu of their normal duties to further scholarship,

managed outside of normal working hours. The University acknowledges the need for Career-Life Balance by
supporting staff through family friendly work practices including flexible
work options and reduced
hours for the care of children. Provisions are in place for employing
support staff during busy periods and reducing time spent on the job when your
circustances change. The University also offers a generous maternity leave of
up to 26 weeks as well as adoption leave provisions.

Occupational Health and Safety
|

The OH&S unit is
dedicated to ensuring the health and wellbeing of all staff, students and visitors
of the University. OH&S are responsible for overseeing the development, implementation
and review of OH&S Policies & Guidelines, investigating incidents, identifying
and managing hazards, reviewing hazard control methods, providing OH&S training,
and managing workers rehabilitation and compensation. Online OH&S training is
an induction requirement for all new staff.

Health Services
|
|
The University Health Service is
part of Parklands Medical Practice on the North Terrace campus and delivers General
Practitioner services available to all staff of the University.
The University's Employee Assistance Program provides free short term counselling assistance to employees experiencing personal
difficulties at work or outside of work.
The Occupational Health & Safety unit's Health Promotion website
is a good source for personal health information for employees.

Fitness and Recreation
|
|
Stay fit and meet new people by getting involved in the many fitness
activities enjoyed by University of Adelaide staff and students. The University Sports Association has
37 sports and recreation clubs throughout
the University. Gymnasium facilities are also on offer at the Sports Hub,
including free weights, cardio equipment, and classes such as aerobics, yoga,
cross training and dancing, as well as a games room. Indoor sports facilities are
also available at Thebarton campus.

Staff Services
|
|
Parking
A range of University parking permit
options are available for permanent staff or staff on a contract of three months
or more. Various permit categories apply, depending on the personal needs and job role of the applicant.
There is generally a waiting list for car parking permits to be used on and around
the North Terrace campus. For convenience, parking permit
fees can be deducted from your salary each fortnight.
Childcare
On-campus childcare facilities
are available at the North
Terrace, Roseworthy and Waite campuses.
Full-time, part-time and occasional care is provided Monday-Friday throughout
the year, except on Public Holidays and for part of the Christmas/New Year break.
Waiting lists may apply.
Security
Security Services aim
to provide a safe campus environment for all staff, students and visitors to
the University, and are the best source for information on how to report a crime, protect your
personal property and deal with various emergency situations. Security Services
also provide a night shuttle/escort service, self-defence classes and oversee
the University's Emergency Management plan and lost/found property.
Identity Cards
Once appointed, new permanent staff or staff on a contract of three
months or more are issued with an identity
card, which is used as a staff ID, building access card and library card.
