How to applyUndergraduate ProgramsYou can apply to compete for a place in a variety of undergraduate degrees (or undergraduate 'programs') on the basis of your:
All applications for February entry into undergraduate programs are made through the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) from early August in the previous year. The closing date for undergraduate programs, except Medicine, Dentistry and Oral Health, is in late September. If you have missed the closing date for February entry, mid-year entry is also available for some programs. For postgraduate programs, refer to the postgraduate section below. Current year school leavers, including those who are completing the equivalent of the SACE interstate or international students about to complete an International Baccalaureate in Australia, must apply through SATAC's UniWeb (www.satac.edu.au/uniweb/). EligibilityAll programs have quotas limiting the number of students who can be enrolled and selection is usually based solely on academic merit. Some programs require additional criteria such as an interview or audition, while other programs list prerequisites, or subjects that have to be successfully completed by all applicants before they become eligible for consideration for entry to that program. Refer to selection criteria for full details. Applicants who apply for entry to undergraduate programs at the University of Adelaide may express their interest in being considered for a fee-based place, as well as a Commonwealth Supported place. Further information on the difference between fee-based and Commonwealth Supported places is available from Student Finance. Your interest in a fee-based place must be indicated when applying through SATAC. Selection is competitive as the number of applicants generally exceeds the number of places available. Therefore applicants are encouraged to make full use of preferences to enhance their opportunity of receiving an offer. PreferencesApplicants can list up to six programs to which they seek admission via their SATAC application. These are called 'preferences' and, as the name implies, should be submitted in order of preference with the most preferred option listed first and the least preferred listed last. Applicants will be offered the highest preference for which they are eligible. Not all students qualify for their first preference, so applicants are advised to list other preferences to provide themselves with alternative options. Deferment of studies for at least one year is available for all programs excluding Arts/Music and other Music programs. Non-award StudiesMany University of Adelaide programs may also be studied for personal interest or professional development, outside of the requirements of a university award. These are referred to as non-award and audit studies and require a different application process. Postgraduate ProgramsThere are currently three different ways to apply for postgraduate programs depending on the program you wish to apply for: 1. Online application via SATAC's GradStart portal
If the postgraduate coursework or postgraduate research program that you wish to apply for is not on this list, please download an application form. For further information on any of the above please contact the Student Centre.
