Credit

Also known as credit for previous study, credit transfer, status, recognition of prior study, advanced standing. Credit is a process which allows students to seek recognition for prior studies they may have undertaken. Eligibility for credit does NOT guarantee admission to programs at the University of Adelaide.

Why apply for credit?

If you are eligible for credit the length of time taken to complete your studies at the University of Adelaide may decrease and your fees may be reduced.

Do you need to lodge an application?

Everyone seeking credit for courses passed at another institution (i.e. not the University of Adelaide) needs to lodge an application.

What information do I need to submit with my credit application?

Your credit application will be considered only if it is accompanied by:
• an official certified copy of your complete academic record, and
• syllabus details of the course(s) for which credit is being sought. You are required to submit photocopies or printouts of the syllabuses as they appear in the Calendar/Handbook of the relevant institution for the relevant year, and
• a brief description of the structure of the degree or diploma, including stating how many units are required for a full-time load (eg. 24 units a year is a full time load at the University of Adelaide).

How do I apply?

1) Download the application for credit form. Alternatively you may obtain this form in hard copy from your Faculty or School Office.

If your academic transcript shows topics for which you have received credit you will need to provide earlier transcripts showing the grades you received for those topics.
