About the event
The Careers Expo presents a huge spectrum of graduate career options under the one roof. If you're graduating this year or even looking for vacation work, it's a great place to meet with employers, ask questions and find out about different graduate career pathways for the 2014 graduate intake.
In December when the 2013 event is launched.... students should:
- Put the 2013 dates in your diary
- Register for the event on CareerHub to book your place. Find out which employers will be at the event so you can plan who to approach
- While you're on CareerHub... why not download the Expo Preparation Kit (linked to the event) which will give you all the tips for standing out from the crowd at the event!
- Check out all of the graduate listings on CareerHub already in your field
- Why not book yourself in to come along to our 'Expo Preparation Seminar' (2013 dates TBA) so you can learn how to maximise your opportunities on the day and stand out from the crowd?
- Finally, there are many options for graduate recruitment and structured graduate programs are just one of them. If you miss out on a graduate program, talk to the Careers Service about other options.
*** Did you know that many structured Graduate Programs close their applications in March/April of this year?***
Careers Expo is a great chance to start researching. Don't forget to drop into the Careers service for assistance with your applications.
Past events
Careers Expo 2012 was huge! Again running over three locations, Bonython Hall, Hub Central and Ingkarni Wardli (formerly Innova21) hosted one of the largest events on campus. More than 4,500 students attended over the two days with each day of the event focusing on different diciplines. Students were able to speak directly with employers in government, private and public sectors covering local, national and international organisations. Entertainment including the ECOS Smoothie Bikes, Day on Fire duo and our resident Careers Service DJ entertained students on the Goodman Crescent lawns and the Careers Service Photo Booth was very popular with students dressing up as their future professions!
Careers Expo 2011 saw the extension of the event into a third on-campus venue. Innova21, Bonython Hall and the Goodman Crescent Lawns all housed exhibition space over two days, attended by more than 4,000 students. Business partners, human resource advisers and managers from some of Australia's leading government, private and not-for-profit organisations gathered to meet students, answer questions and attract future graduates. Students jumped at the chance to take advantage of the opportunity and gain insight into their future careers and network with professionals in their field.
Careers Expo 2010 was held in Bonython Hall and on the Goodman Crescent lawns. Approximately 100 employers met with 3,500 students over two days, complemented by a speaker program.
A range of experts from Defence, PricewaterhouseCoopers, MyCareer.com.au, Credit Suisse, KBR and Santos delivered advice on subjects ranging from career paths, what employers are looking for and the finer points of addressing selection criteria in the application process.
