Psychology

www.psychology.adelaide.edu.au
Information about career prospects for psychologists can be found in the Commonwealth Government publication Australia's Workforce 2005 and on the website http://jobsearch.gov.au/joboutlook (maintained by the Commonwealth Department of Employment and Workplace Relations). Both sources project a fast rate of growth of jobs for graduates in this area.
There are many careers, besides that of psychologist, for students who complete a major in psychology (but not Honours), where some understanding of the factors influencing human behaviour is likely to be very relevant. The combination of psychology with a major in a second discipline can provide a very useful basis for the pursuit of a wide range of careers. It may also enable the student to undertake postgraduate study in other fields, including business administration, commerce, education, medicine or public health.
Professional psychologists in South Australia must be registered with the SA Psychological Board. This requires a minimum of 4 years of study in an accredited degree program, plus either 2 years of professional employment under the supervision of a registered psychologist or the completion of a 2-year postgraduate degree accredited for this purpose.
For further information, visit the Psychology website or the Australian Psychological Society website at www.psychology.org.au or email Carmen Rayner at: carmen.rayner@adelaide.edu.au

Law

www.law.adelaide.adu.au
In today's society the law reaches into almost every corner of our lives, making the study of law today more challenging and intellectually adventurous than it has ever been.
Roles for law graduates are expanding rapidly. Although many graduates enter legal practice, a significant number choose to pursue careers in government, commerce, industry, community organisations or academic institutions. Completion of a single law degree or one of our combined law/non-law degree programs makes our graduates uniquely placed to take up some of the specialist career opportunities offered beyond the law.
It is the enormous range of options, the opportunities and influence which they afford, that gives a career in law its very distinctive appeal and makes the study of law one of the most popular choices among today's students. Check the School web site.
