Q. What are the current Mark and Grade Schemes?

The letters in your results are grades. For past grade bases used within the University click here. Each course is assessed using one of the following grades. Students must direct queries about their marks and grades for their courses to the relevant School or Faculty.

Current MARK and GRADE SCHEMES

Endorsed by Academic Board and approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President on behalf of Council on 15 November 2010, with effect from 1 January 2011.

Examination Scripts

Students have the right to access their examination scripts (Examinations Policy 4.11). However, Schools must retain scripts for 12 months to allow for possible appeals and re-marking. The scripts should be offered back to the students after 12 months. If not collected by the students, they can then be disposed of in confidential waste. Students may access their examination scripts for discussions with academics if they place their request in writing to the examiner within 28 days of the issue of the official results. Schools may choose to offer other arrangements.

Replacement/ Additional Assessment Results

RAA Examination Codes:

UA Academic
UC Compassionate
UM Medical
UX Mixed
UCON Multiple

The results of RAA examinations offered on medical and/or compassionate grounds will be classified using the normal grading system. However, If you completed the primary exam, and then sat the RAA exam, your existing mark for the primary exam will be replaced by the mark for the RAA exam, regardless of whether the latter is higher or lower.

The results of RAA offered on academic grounds will not be graded above the level of 50 Pass. Where an RAA exam on academic grounds produces an overall result that is different from the primary result, the better of the two results will apply.

All students will receive a single final result for each course, whether or not an RAA exam or other redemption work was necessary to achieve that result. No indication of the RAA exam or assessment will appear on your official academic transcript.

Students are advised to refer to the Modified Arrangement and Coursework Assessment for more information.

You can purchase official academic transcripts:

  • 1 copy for $10
  • 4 copies for $20.
  • additional copies purchased at the same time are $2.
  • 5 copies would cost $22,
  • 6 copies would cost $24, etc.
