Rules & Policies
Q. What are the rules and policies for examinations?
Policies, rules and codes ensure equity and efficiency in processes. Students should familiarise themselves with their obligations in regard to examinations, particularly:
- Examinations Policy (including The Code of Conduct for Examinations)
- Academic Honesty and Assessment Obligations for Coursework Students
- Alternative Examination Arrangements Policy
- Assessment for Coursework Programs Policy
- Modified Arrangements for Coursework Assessment Policy
Q. What happens if someone is caught cheating?
Students should refer to the policies listed above which outline their obligations in regard to examinations and the processes involved in assessing incidents and applying penalties.
An examination supervisor who has reason to believe that a student has breached (or is attempting to breach) a rule, will warn the student and report the incident to the Examinations Officer. The supervisor may confiscate any unauthorised materials. Any candidate who is causing a disturbance may be required to leave the examination venue. An incident report will be forwarded to the Head of the relevant School, together with any confiscated material, the examination paper and script book(s). The Head of the School will investigate the alleged offence and apply sanctions in accordance with the University's Rules and Policies.
