Consequences of Late, Non Payment or Incomplete Deferral of Fees

There are consequences that apply if you do not pay your Student Contribution (SC) by the due date, as follows.

If you

  • are eligible for HECS-HELP, and
  • have completed a 'Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP' form, and
  • have provided the University with your Tax File Number (TFN)

any outstanding Student Contribution (SC) after census date will be deferred to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). There will be no impact on your studies. Once your SC has been deferred, payment cannot be accepted by the University and you must contact the ATO with regard to payment of the debt.

If you

  • have not applied for HECS-HELP to defer your SC payment, or
  • have applied for HECS-HELP, but have not provided your TFN to the University, or
  • are not eligible for HECS-HELP

your enrolment will be cancelled if the SC is not paid on, or before the census date. The University will notify you that your enrolment has been cancelled.  You can enter your TFN in Access Adelaide by following this path:

  1. Select the 'My Finances' Menu.
  2. Select 'Tax File Number'.

The University may also take further action in line with Student Debtors. Refer to Financial Assistance for help on paying your Student Contribution.
