Tuition fees

International students pay fees for all University of Adelaide programs except for those who are:

  • undertaking a higher degree by research and who have been awarded a scholarship for that study on the basis of merit following a competitive application process; and
  • studying in Australia under a formal exchange program between an educational institution in their home country and the University of Adelaide.

Full details on programs offered in 2013 and the relevant tuition fees is available in the University's Degree Finder

Study Abroad Program Fees 2013

AUD$10,800 for one semester and AUD$21,600 for two semesters.  These charges are based on a full study load of 12 units per semester.  Overseas health cover for 2013 is $303 for one semester and $605 for two semesters.

Pre-degree Vocational Education and Training (VET) Programs

These are award programs offered at the Certificate IV or Diploma level. Currently the University’s VET offerings are:

Charging Tuition Fees

From the University’s Fees for Award Programs and Courses Policy:

  1. Tuition fees are charged annually on a pro rata basis according to the student’s enrolled load.
  2. International postgraduate research students who undertake most or all of their research away from the University are charged 50 per cent of their relevant tuition fee (or: are deemed to have a half-time load) for the duration of their period away.
  3. Fees for continuing students may be increased annually, up to the limit specified in each student ’s initial letter of offer.

Overseas Student Health Cover (health insurance)

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) requires all international students on student visas and their families (on 'dependant' visas) to pay for health insurance during their stay in Australia.

This insurance is called Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This applies to international higher degree by research students who have scholarships and to international student exchange students, as well as all fee-paying international students.

In the 'Response to Offer of Admission' that international students receive, there is an option to include payment for OSHC. Choosing this option provides visa length cover as required by DIAC outlined in your Offer of Admission. If you request the University of Adelaide to organise OSHC on your behalf, you will receive your OSHC card from the University’s preferred health cover provider on arrival in Adelaide.

If you choose to organise your OSHC with another insurance provider, you need to contact that insurer directly. If you choose another provider please remember that it is a condition of your student visa that you maintain current OSHC for the duration of your visa. You must provide proof to the University that you have paid OSHC for the duration of your visa before your student visa can be issued.
