Expand your connections, have fun and be successful!
The culture and expectations at uni are different from those at high school or other institutions.
You don't need to travel the road alone - our Peer Networking programs will help you adapt with ease!
The networking programs hold social and academic events where you can meet other first year students completing the same study program. They'll also connect you to a peer mentor who will guide you in the right direction. Peer mentors are students who have recently completed first year and are willing to share what they know.
Networking programs also give opportunities to meet some of the key academic staff in your local study community.
Transitioning into tertiary life is similar to arriving in a new country for the first time - the geography is new and the language unfamiliar.
To help, there are a range of networking programs, each specific to a Faculty or School, designed to make things easier for first year students. For details on the networking programs available please check the list at What's What.
Most networking programs only operate during Term 1, Semester 1. An initial networking event is usually held during Orientation Week, and often follows the introductory Course lecture. Check your Orientation Guide for details.
Networking programs give you the opportunity to have ongoing contact with a peer mentor for the duration of the program via email and provide support throughout your first semester.
