Postgraduate Coursework Programs

Postgraduate coursework programs vary in length:

  • Graduate Certificates – normally 1 semester
  • Graduate Diplomas – normally 2 semesters
  • Masters degrees by coursework – normally 1-2 years
  • Masters degrees comprising a combination of research and coursework – normally 2 years
  • Industry-linked short academic programs of varying length are available in many specialist disciplines.

Most postgraduate coursework programs require a Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved institution as a qualification for admission. Some programs accept successful completion of graduate certificates or graduate diplomas.

Applications for most programs should be lodged via SATAC. Contact the Student Centre or check the Program Information Leaflets for details of application requirements and the relevant closing dates.

Some postgraduate coursework programs are offered on a Commonwealth-supported basis, while the remainder are offered on a fee-based enrolment basis. Commonwealth-supported students may be eligible for assistance with their fees through Higher Education Loan Program (HECS-HELP), while fee-based enrolment students may be eligible for assistance with their fees through FEE-HELP. Check the Program Finder website for details of the fees required for your program.

A number of scholarships are available to assist with the cost of postgraduate study.

But it’s not all about study – there are lots of campus activities and events, plus sports and recreation clubs to join. From the moment you arrive, there are support structures in place to make you feel welcome and settle in easily.

The Accommodation Service can help you with securing University accommodation or a place at one of our residential colleges or explore options such as Homestay, Student Hostels, a serviced apartment or private rental accommodation.

Student Profile

The high quality of education, affordable cost of living, and the uncrowded environment all appealed to me.

“After comparing the top Australian universities I decided that the University of Adelaide was the most suitable.

My advice: just come here and prepare to experience a wonderful life. Keep an open mind, enjoy the academic life and socialise with other people. It’s a really great experience.”
