Your Guide to University

The University of Adelaide offers a variety of entry paths for people wishing to pursue Undergraduate studies. Most likely you will fit into more than just one of the categories listed below.
Select the profile that most accurately describes you
(come back to this page later and choose another profile if you fit into more than one.)

 Year 10 to 12 Students

Students who are studying an Australian Secondary School qualification such as the SACE (or interstate equivalent Certificate of Education) or International Baccalaureate (IB).

International Applicants

International students are those who are not Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, or permanent Australian residents.

Indigenous Applicants

Indigenous students are students who identify as being Aboriginal Australians or Torres Strait Islanders.

TAFE Graduates

Applicants who have completed a relevant TAFE award can be considered for University selection on the basis of their completed TAFE studies, in addition to other qualifications where relevant.

Special Entry (or Mature Age)

There are many reasons people decide not to go to university straight after high school. If you’re over 21 and don’t have a Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER), or didn’t achieve a high enough TER at secondary school to enter your program of choice, you’ll need to complete the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT).

Information for Parents

Information you need to help your son or daughter make decisions about whether to come to university, and what to study if they do.

School Careers Advisors & School Counsellors

With so many options available to students in relation to study and career pathways, the University of Adelaide recognises the importance of providing relevant and current academic program information to school teachers and students.
