Answers to some of our frequently asked questions can be found below:
Most students will not need to apply to graduate. The graduations office will run an automatic appliction process to generate applications for potential graduates. The generation of an automatic application is different for coursework and research students.
If you are a coursework student an automatic application is generated based on the expected completion date entered as part of your enrolment checklist or if you will have met the minimum number of units required to take out your award before the conferral date.
If you are undertaking a Masters by Research or a Doctor of Philosophy an automatic application is generated for students who have submitted their thesis for submission prior to the process being run.
Students will be notified via their University of Adelaide email address once this process has been run.
If you are enrolled in more than one award you will need to submit a new application for that award. If you are only enrolled in one program and believe you have met the requirements to take out an alternative award i.e. you are enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce (Management) and wish to take out a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) you will need to complete the following steps:
Information about your conferral and presentation will be published in your Access Adelaide account. You will receive email notification to inform you that applications are open and to when important information has been uploaded to your Access Adelaide account. It is your responsibility to check your student email and Access Adelaide accounts.
Tickets to the Adelaide and Singapore Ceremonies are free. Each graduate is guaranteed two guest tickets and they do not need a ticket for themselves. Due to space restrictions in Bonython Hall occasionally there are a limited number of additional tickets available.
If you are receiving more than one award at your ceremony you will only receive one standard ticket allocation plus any requested additional tickets we are able to assign.
In absentia parchments are released approximately two weeks after the final ceremony to allow for our required parchment audit. The Graduations Office will notify you using Access Adelaide and via email to let you know when your parchment is available for collection.
As the ceremonies are no longer official graduations you can receive multiple awards at one ceremony. The Graduations Office will contact all students receiving multiple awards offering them the chance to receive both awards at the one ceremony.
You will only be contacted if you have elected to receive both of your awards in person. Please note that if you elect to receive both awards at one ceremony you will only receive one standard ticket allocation.
The presentation ceremony in Adelaide takes about an hour but can go slightly longer depending on the length of the commencement speech.
The ceremony in Singapore takes approximately two hours.
Ceremonies in both Adelaide and Singapore are followed by optional light refreshments for graduates and their families.
If you are not eligible for conferral by the anomalies deadline, you will need to apply again for the next conferral round before you can legally graduate from your award and attend a ceremony.
If you become academically qualified after the conferral date, you can ask your faculty or school to put a completion row on your record and apply for a completion letter. This indicates to employers that you have met the academic requirements of your award and are awaiting conferral.
Students who accept an offer of a replacement or additional assessment, and who have applied to graduate, are not guaranteed tohave their award conferred.
You will need to contact your faculty to find out their policy in relation to completions and replacement or additional assessment.
If you have not been assessed as eligible by the anomalies deadline you will not graduate and will have to apply for the next conferral round.
Your parchment is a legal document and as such we are required to record your name (as it appears in University records) on the date of your conferral. If your name is incorrect please complete the change of personal details form and provide the required documentation before the anomalies deadline. If you do not submit your request prior to the anomalies deadline you will need to apply for a re-issue parchment after you receive your original parchment.

The University does not have on campus parking. However there are a number of private parking facilities close to the campus as well as parking on Victoria Drive and Kintore Avenue.

If your parchment has been damaged or lost you can apply for a replacement parchment. As your parchment is a legal document we require an original Statutory Declaration out lining how your parchment was damaged/lost and returning the damaged parchment if possible.
If you have changed your name since receiving your parchment you can apply for a re-issue parchment. A re-issue parchment costs $200 and we require you to return your original parchment as well as proof that the name you are requesting is your legal name.
