Graduating from Adelaide University

Congratulations!

Graduating from university is a significant achievement and we’re excited to welcome you, your family and friends to an upcoming graduation ceremony.

If you're graduating, attending as a guest or returning as an alum, the information below is tailored to you.

Adelaide University graduation information

Adelaide University graduation ceremonies will be staged at Pridham Hall, Adelaide City Campus West.

We acknowledge alumnus Andrew Pridham, for his generosity in establishing Pridham Hall.

The graduation ceremonies will be held from:

Tuesday 29 September to Wednesday 7 October 2026 

All students

Eligible students should log into myGraduation via myAdelaide to view the details of the ceremony they have been allocated to and to register their attendance.

If you are attending as a founding alum (conferred at University of Adelaide or University of South Australia previously), please refer to the information emailed to you.

Thursday 17 December 2026

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery students only

Eligible students will be allocated to this ceremony; please log into myGraduation via myAdelaide to view the details of this ceremony and to register their attendance.

 
Thursday 21 January to Friday 12 February 2027

All students

The ceremonies will be held from Thursday 21 January to Friday 12 February 2027.

Eligible students will be advised of their allocated ceremony date and time no later than 15 December 2026.

Eligible students will be notified by email and should log into myGraduation via myAdelaide to view the details and to register their attendance.

 

Regional graduation ceremonies 2027

Regional graduation ceremonies will be held as follows:

  • Friday 12 March 2027 – Mount Gambier, Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre
  • Friday 19 March 2027 – Whyalla, Middleback Arts Centre.

All graduands participating in a ceremony are required to wear the appropriate academic dress for their Adelaide University award.

Coursework Programs and Master by Research Students

Each student will wear:

  • Cambridge-style black gown
  • Black mortarboard with black tassel

Hoods

Black Oxford-style hoods, fully lined with the relevant colour:

Each Doctorate student will wear:

  • Oxford-style black gown with red facing on the front of the gown and around the sleeve cuffs 

  • Black Oxford-style hood, fully lined with red, with gold edging 

  • Black Tudor bonnet with black tassel 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduands are encouraged to wear a University-provided stole and/or tassels in the colours of the Aboriginal flag, the Torres Strait Islander flag, or both, in addition to the required academic dress. 

All graduands, domestic and international, are encouraged to wear cultural or ceremonial attire in addition to the required academic dress.

Come and watch your friends, family and colleagues’ graduate. Graduating students are not required to purchase a ticket and will receive their ticket on the day at registration.

Please note that limits on the number of guest tickets available per student may apply.

Information about limits that apply to each ceremony (if applicable) will be available on the Humanitix tickets sales pages from Monday 7 September 2026.

It is recommended that tickets are only purchased through the ceremony links below.

Guest tickets will not be available for sale at the venue on the day of the ceremony and so it is important that guests purchase their tickets in advance and bring these with them.

Please note: Guests will need to purchase tickets as per the above information. Limits on the number of guest tickets purchased per student may apply. Guest tickets are available until sold out. Unfortunately, once all tickets have been sold it is not possible to make any more available as all seats in the venue have been sold. If you wish to view the ceremony, held in Pridham Hall, but have been unable to obtain a guest ticket, you may wish to view the live web stream of the event via the livestream web page. 

Alternatively, the video of each ceremony held in Adelaide will be available on the University’s You Tube Channel within approximately four weeks of the ceremonies.

Parking is generally available in city car parks. Street parking is patrolled with parking restrictions enforced.  City of Adelaide has information on city parking options. Please ensure you allow enough time prior to the ceremony to park your car. 

If you’re unable to attend an Adelaide University graduation ceremony in person, you can still be part of the celebration. Ceremonies held in Adelaide are streamed live online, so you won’t miss a moment no matter where you are in the world.

Recordings are available on the Adelaide University YouTube channel approximately two weeks after each ceremony.

Please note that no facilities are available at Pridham Hall for storage of luggage or jackets. If you require luggage storage, please check with your accommodation for available options.

Professional photography is located in the Kaurna Building with a variety of services including parchment plaques, parchment frames, graduation merchandise and flowers.

Capture your own photos with family and friends at iconic Adelaide University spots around City Campus East and West.

Adelaide City Campus West

Adelaide City Campus East

Take a 15-minute walk from Pridham Hall, or catch a tram along North Terrace.

  • Bonython Hall – featuring an AU archway, 3D letter sculpture, and signature AU graduations lighting and photography backdrops to highlight this historic landmark

  • Mitchell Building
  • Barr Smith Library Stairs
  • Kaurna Learning Circle
  • Union House Cloisters

An additional academic dress return location will be available at Bonython Hall. Please return your academic dress within one hour of your ceremony ending. For example, if your ceremony finishes at 5.00pm, please return your gown by 6.00pm.

Enjoy a celebratory meal or refreshments at one of the local eateries below. These are a few suggestions that may be open throughout the day; please check each venue’s website for opening times.

City Campus West

  • West Oak Hotel: Just a short walk from Pridham Hall, West Oak Hotel offers a range of beers, wines and spirits, along with a dining menu featuring pub classics and modern Australian dishes.
  • Coffee and sandwich options are also available around campus

City Campus East

  • Taikunthi: Enjoy modern Australian cuisine featuring quality local ingredients, along with a carefully curated selection of beverages. Pre-book your table and get $20 off any bottle of wine with your meal.
  • UniBar: Relax over Australian craft beverages and pub fare, whether you’re looking for a casual afternoon or an evening session.
  • Casual lunch options are also available on campus

On graduation day, have your photo taken by the alumni team’s roaming photographer, then visit us at the Alumni Hub to collect your free photo print and AU jellybeans to add to your AU graduate tote.

While you’re there, update your details and go into the draw to win one of two prizes valued at $300 each.

Please return your academic dress to one of the return points below.

  • City Campus West – Kaurna Building
  • City Campus East – Bonython Hall

Your academic dress must be returned within one hour of the ceremony ending. For example, if your ceremony finishes at 5.00pm, please return your gown by 6.00pm.

Preparing to graduate

Applying to graduate

You do not need to apply to graduate. Your eligibility to graduate will be assessed by Student Assist. During this time you will be allocated a graduation ceremony and following this, will be able to view myGraduation.

myGraduation will list any outstanding conditions that you need to meet by the close of the eligibility date (as displayed change your preferences date) in myGraduation.

What you need to do

All students will be able to register their attendance at a graduation ceremony via myGraduation, or select an alternative conferral preference. You will be given the option to:

  • Attend your graduation ceremony
  • Attend a later ceremony
  • How you would like to receive your parchment

You do not need to attend a ceremony to confer in your award. Your graduation ceremony date is your conferral date.

Research students are conferred at a meeting of the University Council.

It is important that you continue to monitor your student email account to ensure you receive your invitation to register for graduation. You will have access to myAdelaide for 18 months after your award is conferred.

Once all options have been selected in myGraduation you will be able to make payment from 30 days before your graduation ceremony with charges as follows:

  • Academic dress hire for the ceremony ($50.00)
  • Postage of your parchment ($15.00 registered mail within Australia or $35.00 DHL courier overseas) if you will not be attending your ceremony. 
  • An invoice to pay the fees for your Adelaide University graduation ceremony will be sent to your  Finances account.

myGraduation will provide you with an opportunity to check your name and program description before your parchment is printed. The parchment you receive is a legal document, and as such, it is important that your name is spelt correctly and in the order it appears on your passport, birth certificate or marriage certificate. Once your parchment has been issued, it cannot be re-issued with a name change at a later date.

myGraduation will allow you to submit a request for an amendment should any of your details be incorrect. Documentary evidence will also need to be provided to your nearest Student Assist office. Accepted identification includes your passport, birth certificate or marriage certificate.

All outstanding University fees and charges must be paid before you are able to graduate, including overdue student loans and library fines. If you would like to discuss your outstanding debts, please contact Student Finance or for library fines, please contact the Library directly.

Not attending your ceremony?

If you are unable to attend your graduation ceremony after you have indicated that you will be present, you can change your preference in myGraduation.

Digital parchments are issued via My eQuals after graduation. Please check your Adelaide University email account for notification advising when a document is available in My eQuals. Paper parchments will continue to be issued.

Please email graduations@adelaide.edu.au to recall your parchment from archive.

If you choose not to attend your graduation ceremony you can collect your printed parchment from the Hub Central City East, located on Level 3 following the graduation ceremony.  

You can collect the printed parchment in person or authorise someone to collect it on your behalf. When collecting your parchment please bring photographic identification with you. If another person is collecting your parchment on your behalf, submit the Third Party Proxy Form to authorise someone to collect it on your behalf and advise this person that photo identification will be required.

Parchments will be available for collection from this location for approximately 3 months before being archived. If you wish to collect your parchment after this time, email graduations@adelaide.edu.au first so it can be recalled from archive.

If you choose not to attend your graduation ceremony, the University can post your parchment to you by selecting this option in myGraduation. The costs for postage and packaging are:

  • $15.00 for registered mail within Australia (additional $10 for express post)
  • $35.00 for DHL Courier overseas

Parchments cannot be delivered to post office box addresses outside of Australia.

If you would like to have your parchment posted and it is after myGraduation has closed please select the parchment postage option on the online Order Official Documents form.

In the event that you are unable to attend your graduation ceremony after registering your attendance, you will not be charged the academic dress hire fee.

If you have not yet paid the fee, the charge will automatically be reversed once the ceremonies conclude.

If you have paid your gown hire fee, your student account will be credited. If you would like to apply for a refund, please email your request to Student Finance.
