Academic Dress
All graduands who attend their
graduation ceremony must wear the appropriate academic attire - gown, with hood or stole (or both), and mortar board or bonnet. The University of Adelaide's Academic Dress Rules prescribe the academic attire for all awards.
You may view all awards and the details of their associated attire here.
The organisations listed below are familiar with the University's academic
dress regulations and can assist with your hire or purchase needs.
Early application should be made for hire of academic dress to ensure
that the correct attire is available for you on the day.
Hire of Academic Dress
Adelaide Ceremonies:

The AFUW Academic Dress Hire form will be available here ahead of the December 2008 Graduation Ceremonies.
To access the AFUW hire
form, you will need to use your email username and password, and you
will need to have access to a printer to complete the process. If you
have forgotten your username and password, or cannot access the form,
please go to the Student Centre for assistance.
If you cannot lodge your academic dress hire form and make the payment
personally, then you can authorise someone else to do so for you. You
will be required to complete a proxy
authorisation form (pdf 19kB) and have your proxy go to the Student Centre with photo identification in order to complete
the academic dress hire for you. Please note for December 2008 Ceremonies, the last day for payment is Thursday, 11 December 2008.

All prices are listed for a 24 hour period, or if the ceremony is on a Friday afternoon,
the hired items may be returned on the following Monday morning.
In addition to the hire costs, The Regalia Shop charge a $45 bond which will be returned to the graduate
when the hire items are returned.

Collection of Academic Dress
AFUW-SA Inc. Trust Fund Academic Dress Hire Service
If you ordered your gown from the AFUW, please collect academic attire from the Gowns Room at the back of
Bonython Hall, University of Adelaide. You must bring your receipt,
which will be retained until academic dress is returned.
For morning ceremonies collect between 5.30pm and 8.00pm of the
previous evening including Sunday (no extra fee) or from 8.00am on the
day of the ceremony.
For afternoon ceremonies collect from 11.00am on the day of the ceremony.
Please collect your academic attire as early as possible. Remember that
you must assemble in Elder Hall no later than 70 minutes prior to the
commencement of the ceremony.
Please return academic dress on the day of your ceremony - by 12.30pm
after a morning ceremony, or by 5.30pm after an afternoon ceremony. A
penalty will be charged for late returns.
