Time frames
For all types of grievances, it is expected that the Grievance Facilitator will complete the Stage 2 process within 20 business days of receiving the formally lodged grievance, except where a shorter/longer time frame is specified for a particular type of grievance. The Grievance Facilitator may decide, on the basis of a case made by one or more of the parties to the grievance, that the particular circumstances of the grievance warrant an extension of the facilitation time frame including an extension of the time for lodging the written grievance. For example, an extension may be warranted when informal discussion (Stage 1) was actively pursued by all parties beyond the timelines.
If there is no resolution within the timeline, and the Facilitator is not satisfied that an extension is warranted (eg because one of the parties is deliberately delaying) the Facilitator may refer the student with the grievance to the Stage Three process.
