Have realistic expectations

One of the reasons some students become dissatisfied with university is that their expectations aren't matched by the reality. Is this the case for you? How would you complete the following?

I thought that at university……………………………………....

However, the reality is…………………………………………..

Is there a serious mismatch for you between your expectations and how things have turned out?

If so, you may be able to do something about it. You can try either adjusting your expectations, so that they are more realistic, or finding out if there is something you can do to change the situation. Some of the links on this site will have ideas about both of these possibilities. Once you have identified the source of any dissatisfaction, you're in a better position to do something constructive about it.

So take the first step and talk to someone at your Faculty or School or drop into the Student Centre.
