The University of Adelaide Australia

University Checklist

What to do before you start university!

  • Accept your offer (believe it or not, some students forget to do this!).
  • Attend an enrolment information session.
  • Enrol in your courses.
  • Get your student ID card.
  • Get to know other first-year students and get a student perspective on study from senior students through a Peer Mentoring Program.
  • Show up to O’Week, have a great time and get to know your campus.
  • Buy your necessary textbooks and other equipment prior to the first week of formal classes.
  • If you’re coming to Adelaide from interstate or overseas, make sure you have accommodation lined up.
  • If you’re planning on catching public transport to class, work out which buses, trains or trams you will catch.
  • Work out which parking facilities you’ll use if you’re driving into uni.
  • If you plan to work part-time, determine how much work you can fit in with your course choices (full-time study equates to 48 hours per week).
  • Set up a study area at home or determine which on-campus computer suites you’ll use.
  • Consider if you need any assistance from the Disability Service to accommodate any disability or medical condition you may have.
