2009 Orientation Week
Monday 23-Friday 27 February

Orientation Week (also called O’Week) is a key date in a new student’s calendar.

2009 O’Week is a comprehensive program of academic, social activities and information sessions which are offered which are designed to introduce you to campus life; the people, the services, the resources, the environment, new ways of learning and how to understand different teaching styles.

O'Week Program

You will find during your time at university that it's up to you to make sure you do everything you need to during O'Week. You will receive a copy of the O'Guide before you start uni, which will include information on how you can enjoy the following great intiatives during O'Week.

Preliminary Classes

Preliminary classes will be held for most, if not all, of your courses. It is essential that you attend preliminary classes and lectures for courses in which you are enrolled so that you don't miss important information about course outlines, book lists, methods of assessment and tutorial classes.

Services for Students

There are also a number of information sessions run throughout the week to help you get the most out of University services. Do yourself a favour and kickstart your research skills by going on a Library Tour and by doing a Library tutorial online.

Welcome Centre

If you are lost, or just looking for a friendly face and someone to talk to, visit the Welcome Centre on Goodman Lawns (near North Terrace). There will be experienced students and staff available to offer directions, advice and information. While you're there, join a campus tour to familiarise yourself with your new environment and find out where important services are located. The Welcome Centre is also a great place to just hang out and meet others from your program, including senior students willing to share tips and suggestions.

On-campus Activities

An eclectic range of day and night time activities will be held throughout the week including bands, DJs, Fringe acts and a cinema on the lawns. Find out everything you need to know about the University of Adelaide's campus culture whilst enjoying drinks, free food, entertainment, competitions, giveaways and lots more! More information about the Adelaide University Union activities will be available soon. Make sure you get your ticket to the famous O'Ball, a musical spectacular set to rock the University of Adelaide with some of Australia's biggest and well known acts!
