How does the Internet student service work ?
Quotas are applied and usage is monitored
- there are two Internet quota allocation periods a year:
- 1st January to 30th June
- 1st July to 31st December
- within the first week of the commencement of each period the University Funded Quota will be applied to your account
- each night quotas will be debited based on the external Internet traffic downloaded the previous day
- you will be sent an email message informing you when you have used 25%, 50% and 75% of your quota
- when you have used 100% or more of the University Funded Quota you will receive an email informing you that you are blocked from access to external websites
- unused University Funded Quota will not carry forward into the next period.
- it is important to note that you will be blocked from Internet use if you have no enrolments at Census date of Semester One - 31st March. There are some groups of students who are exempt from this rule. If you add enrolments after Census, your external Internet access will be reinstated.
You will need to purchase additional quota if the University Funded Quota is used prior to the completion of the period
- additional quota is called Self Funded Quota
- you can buy this extra quota in bundles as follows:
- 600 Mb for $6
- 1000 Mb for $10
- 1500 Mb for $15
- 2000 Mb for $20
- 3000 Mb for $30
- 4000 Mb for $40
- 5000 Mb for $50
- this approximately equates to a charge of 1c/Mb.
- unused Self Funded Quota will carry forward to the next period
- no refunds will be available on unused quota upon graduating or leaving the University
- Self Funded Quota can be purchased at the University Contact Centre on North Terrace Campus, at the Main Office on Roseworthy Campus or enquire in the WISA office on Waite Campus.
