Selection Criteria
Selection for the exchange programs is made on the basis of academic merit and an evaluation of the student's reasons for wanting to participate in the exchange program. Before coming in to speak to someone about participating in an exchange, make sure you meet these minimum criteria: - I have passed at least 24 units (one year, full time) of a degree at University of Adelaide
- I have at least a credit average overall (65%)
- I have been enrolled as a University of Adelaide student for the last two semesters (not cross-institutional)
If any of the above statements are incorrect, you will be unable to participate in an exchange through the University of Adelaide.
Students must have achieved at least a credit (65%) grade average over their whole degree programme, preferably with no fails. They also must have completed at least two semesters of full-time study (24 units). Part-time students are eligible to participate provided they have completed at least 24 units of study. All students must be enrolled as full-time students during their exchange.
Most students are eligible to study overseas in either their fourth or fifth semester of study. A student can submit an application at any time after their first semester's results are available – an offer may be made conditional upon successful completion of the second semester of study.
Applicants will need to include a short essay with their application, and to have consulted their Faculty about their proposed course of study overseas; it may not, however, be possible to obtain Faculty Approval for specific courses at the time of the application.
Once a student has been selected by the University of Adelaide for an exchange program, their application is forwarded to the overseas institution for final acceptance. Final approval for admission is at the discretion of the host institution.
Students are requested not to contact partner institutions about the exchange program. All correspondence must be through the Adelaide Abroad office.
